67 %.

The number of companies reporting to researchers recently that they have no plan for the developing “hybrid office”.

The “hybrid office” is now upon us. And many companies are taking a closer look at what it portends for the future of work at their organizations.

Below are several of the big takeaways from the “Hybrid Discussion.”

Employees favor “Hybrid” by a wide margin. Global consulting firm Accenture shared results of a recent research effort saying that some 83 % of workers interviewed said they preferred a “hybrid model” of work environment. Some combination of in – office working plus a certain amount of work – from – home (WFH).

There are some widely differing generational opinions. Accenture also found some real differences in a preference for Hybrid Work by generational groups like Gen X and Gen Z.

For example, more “Gen Z” respondents ( 74 % ) prefer face – to – face interaction with their colleagues more so than their “Boomer” counterparts ( 68 % ). “Gen X” was even less inclined with only 66 % saying they preferred in – person interactions in an office setting over WFH arrangements.

Finally, Compensation will be a big topic of conversation around Hybrid.

Researcher Salary.com found that 92 % of employers say that they currently have no system for figuring out compensation for employees  who work remotely. Relatedly, 21 % of companies say they would adjust compensation when reviewing their individual contribution.

So there you have it. “Hybrid” will be a hot topic in the coming months for many in organizations. And the opinions and mechanics of it all will probably take some time to sort out.

Where is your company these days on the topic of Hybrid Work arrangements? Does sales have a different view on Hybrid than other functions in the organization? Will Hybrid affect a customer's view of their experience at an organization or their overall satisfaction?

Lot of things to be learned here, don’t you think?

So, as I usually do at this point, permit me to suggest some strategies that might help you as you tackle the Hybrid issue via some business tips.

Business Tip # 1. Determine how many of your own employees like the idea of a “hybrid arrangement” at work. You might be surprised. Does it approach that 80 % number I cited earlier or is it wildly different in either direction? Important to know moving forward, don’t you agree?

Tip #2. Definitely put together a “plan” for Hybrid at your company. Sooner rather than later for sure. You’ll need to have some answers on things like: which groups in the organization are best – suited for hybrid and which are not. Also, how do you intend compensate remote workers who choose that path. Is it as easy as pay – for – performance or is it something altogether different? Your gonna need some answers. Seriously.

So, get going on Hybrid and put a strategy together,

That’s all I’ve got right now.

Until next time then.

Ciao.
